Albert J. Beveridge

Stance- Imperialist; Beveridge supported both imperialist and federalist views. He wanted to annex the Philippines to enhance the US Navy. He believed that the Country's Navy was the most important military force as the English had a strong navy and they were one of the strongest nations at the time.

Occupation- Republican, Indiana Senator and politician; Beveridge served in the Senate from 1899 to 1911 and ran for Indiana governor in 1912, but lost. He was an avid supporter of Roosevelt, particularly in his first term.

Reasons of Interest-
-He wanted a strong navy, and a territory on the other side of the world would help the navy.
-He believed the Philippians was home to barbaric people. And he wanted to spread American culture.
-He wanted to spread Christianity, as he was a strong Christian and believed God wanted him to organize "chaos."
-He believed America could bring peace to the Philippians.
-He wanted to open unexplored territories.
-He believed that the annexation of Hawaii and Puerto Rico was successful, and this would be the same.
